Dr. Rizwana Popatia currently serves as Senior Vice President of Medical Staff and Clinical Strategy for Global Patient Care at M42, a pioneering global health platform based in Abu Dhabi. In this role, Dr. Popatia is responsible for advancing the strategic development of medical staff, clinical governance, and standardization of patient care pathways across M42’s global healthcare network. She also holds the role of Vice President of the M42 Global Medical Advisory Board, contributing to the alignment of clinical excellence, governance, and innovation across the enterprise.
Dr. Popatia also serves as the Medical Director and Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist at Mubadala Health Dubai facility and Amana long term care and rehabilitation hospital. Dr Popatia also serves as Associate Professor at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU).
Dr. Popatia is American board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology. She completed her medical education at M.P. Shah Medical College in Jamnagar, India, earning 17 gold medals. She pursued her Pediatrics Residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York and completed her Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and served on their ACGME and Patient Safety & Quality Committees. She is a 2022 Fellow of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in Boston and previously served as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College and served as Attending Pediatrician at New York–Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Popatia specializes in pediatric respiratory outcomes, health systems thinking, and multidisciplinary care in complex respiratory conditions. She is actively involved in peer review and editorial work for leading pediatric journals. Regionally, Dr. Popatia holds leadership roles in regional medical societies and is dedicated to advancing pediatric healthcare and education.
